Why Curcumin Makes Headlines
Curcumin is one of the most studied plant compounds, and new papers about it appear every year. Headlines often turn those papers into sweeping promises, which makes it hard to know what the research really says.
What the Studies Usually Test
Most curcumin research uses purified extracts, often in capsules, at doses many times higher than the turmeric in a home-cooked meal. Many studies are small, short or done in the lab rather than in people, and results vary from one trial to the next.
That means the findings of a curcumin study cannot simply be applied to a teaspoon of turmeric powder in your dal.
Turmeric Is a Food
Meghana Organics sells turmeric as a spice: for colour, aroma and flavour, and for the traditions built around it. It is not a medicine and should not replace treatment. If you have a health condition, are pregnant or take regular medication, talk to your doctor before taking large amounts of turmeric or any curcumin product.
How We Enjoy It
A pinch in the morning tadka, a cup of haldi doodh in the evening, a spoonful in pickles and marinades. Choosing a high-curcumin, single-origin turmeric like ours from Wai simply means more colour and flavour in every one of them.
