The Problem with Cafe Turmeric Lattes
Turmeric lattes have taken cafes by storm. However, many coffee shops use pre-mixed syrups loaded with refined sugar, artificial coloring, and low-grade turmeric with very little Curcumin.
Here is how to make a fragrant, delicious version at home.
Ingredients
- 1 cup Oat milk (or almond/coconut)
- 1/2 tsp Meghana Organics Wai Turmeric
- 1/4 tsp cinnamon powder
- A tiny pinch of black pepper
- 1 tsp coconut oil or ghee (curcumin is fat-soluble)
- 1 tsp maple syrup or raw honey
Instructions
1. In a small saucepan, gently heat the milk over medium-low heat.
2. Add the turmeric, cinnamon, black pepper, and coconut oil. Use a small wire whisk or a handheld milk frother to blend vigorously until it becomes bright yellow and frothy.
3. Do not let it boil! Boiling drives off some of the delicate volatile oils that give turmeric its aroma.
4. Remove from heat, pour into your favorite mug, and stir in your sweetener of choice. Dust with a little extra cinnamon and enjoy the warm, earthy flavors.
